The short rains – right place, right time
Yesterday I wrote about the change in weather. Today was no different as it started out as a clear and gorgeous day. Late in the afternoon I noticed the clouds building up on the horizon.
As I looked out over the veldt, I noticed movement and focused in on a herd of 16 giraffe walking away from the storm. It was an amazing sight to see them in the sunlight against the backdrop of the impending storm. I had brought my camera (better lucky than good) and started snapping.
Then a surprising thing happened. They all stopped and turned towards the storm. Motionless, waiting for the inevitable, they were frozen as the rain started.
And off at the edge of the storm, I was able to capture the rainbow. Right place, right time!
